About our School and our Staff

Vanessa’s School of Dance is an I.S.T.D. Approved dance school.

We are dedicated to teaching to the highest grades in Ballet, Tap,Modern, Acro and National Dance. We follow the ISTD Syllabus, and also have classes for Musical Theatre, Singing, Drama/Acting, Street Jazz, Contemporary, Yoga bugs, Tea Dance every Friday at 1.30-3.30pm and Pilates. Pupils do not have to participate in all of the school’s activities. The taking of exams, entering of competitions and participation in shows is determined by the principal, dependant on the ability of the pupil and Parent / Pupil choice.

All the staff at Vanessa’s School of Dance are CRB checked and the teachers are all first aiders. Vanessa and her staff take many courses themselves to continually improve the service they offer. Vanessa feels that if the teachers are right then the children will be right.

Vanessa’s School of Dance offers as much as possible to the students, with different types of dance and also auditions as they come up.

The Patrons of the school are actively involved with Steve Prichett taking singing classes on a weekly basis.

Vanessa and Tesh have been invited to become examiners for International Performing Arts & Theatre (I-PATH), which is an examining board that offers programmes and qualifications in dance, singing, acting and musical theatre. Vanessa has also been invited to join the Classical Ballet artistic group and Tesh has been invited to join the Musical Theatre artistic group. This is testament to their expertise and knowledge in these fields and we are so grateful that this has been recognised by I-PATH, which has thousands of students worldwide following their programmes.

About this Website

This website is designed to enable communication with current students and their families. It is also a means to attract newcomers to the school. Communication is 2-way and our aim is to publish information, newsworthy items, diary dates, times and prices, and we would like you to give us feedback via the Contact page.

We may also publish photographs of pupils that represent the school at shows, excel in exams, or win ‘Most Improved’ awards. This is to encourage participation and pride in the school and to reward individual achievment. We are aware of the issues of child protection, and will not publish images that are in any way indecent, nor will we publish contact information for any of the pupils. Any pupils or parents that object to their photographs being used on this website should contact the Principal.
